Permanent Jewelry FAQ
What is permanent jewelry?
Permanent jewelry is a custom-fitted chain that is soldered closed directly onto your wrist, neck, or ankle—meaning there’s no clasp. It’s lightweight, seamless, and designed for everyday wear.
Does it hurt?
Not at all. The welding process never touches your skin. You’ll see a quick melt, but you won’t feel anything.
How long does it last?
Permanent jewelry is designed for long-term wear, but its longevity depends on your lifestyle. With proper care, pieces can last months to years.
What if I need to remove it?
You can remove the jewelry by cutting the small jump ring with scissors. If you want it reattached, bring the chain back and we’ll reweld it (reweld fees apply).
What metals do you use?
We use 14K gold-filled, 14K solid gold, and sterling silver chains. All materials are hypoallergenic and safe for long-term wear.
Can permanent jewelry break?
Yes—just like any delicate chain. Breakage is rare but can happen if the chain gets pulled or snagged. If your chain breaks at the weld, we can reweld it. If the chain snaps elsewhere, a replacement chain may be needed.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Absolutely. Our chains are nickel-free, hypoallergenic, and safe for long-term wear.
Can I travel or go through TSA with permanent jewelry?
Yes! TSA does not require removal of jewelry, including welded pieces.
Can I shower, swim, or sweat with it on?
Yes. Permanent jewelry is designed for everyday wear. However:
- Chlorine may dull sterling silver
- Sunscreen and lotions may cause buildup
- Saltwater may tarnish silver
Solid gold holds up best to active lifestyles.
How do you size the jewelry?
We fit each chain custom to your wrist, ankle, or neck for the perfect seamless placement. No two fits are the same.
Can I add charms?
Absolutely! We offer a variety of custom charms, links, and connectors to personalize your piece.
How old do you have to be?
We offer permanent jewelry for ages 5+, with a parent or guardian present for minors.
Do you offer group appointments or parties?
Yes—Studio Ninethreeseven offers private events, pop-ups, and group bookings. Reach out to schedule your date.
What if I need an MRI or medical procedure?
Most imaging does require removal, but it depends on your provider. If removal is needed, simply cut the jump ring and bring it back for a reweld.
Do you offer warranties?
We will resolder if it breaks at the jumping within 14 days of service. Chain durability varies by care and lifestyle. Rewelds or replacements are available if needed.
